This is 42! Celebrating my 4th birthday after surviving stroke!

I'm fundraising to prevent, treat and beat stroke!

I have chosen to fundraise for the Stroke Foundation to raise awareness and funds to prevent, treat and beat stroke.

Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers. It kills more women than breast cancer and more men than prostate cancer.

It attacks the brain – the human control centre, changing lives in an instant, and its impact extend well beyond the immediate medical emergency. 

There were over 27,400 Australians who experienced a stroke for the first time in their lives in 2020, while more than 445,000 survivors are living in the community.

With your support, the Stroke Foundation can provide support to those affected right now and fund research to help prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery.

You’ve had multiple strokes following a vertebral artery dissection!

Monday 7th Mar
As many of you know, October 2021 threw a curve ball. I was diagnosed with a cerebellar stroke secondary to an artery dissection and I lived to tell the tale!

Many people don’t survive what happened so I feel very grateful to continue on life’s journey walking away relatively unscathed from what could have been a very different outcome.

That said, I walk away wanting to do more good on this planet  and hopefully save some lives by raising awareness to stroke. It is not just something that happens to the elderly and I’m passionate about ensuring there is enough education and funding to further improve how modern medicine responds to stroke.

I spent an intensive 3.5 months in rehab to retrain my brain on all things balance and coordination. I turn 39 this year on my 6 month stroke anniversary and instead of celebrating my 40th next year, I would like to go large this year and ask that in lieu of presents, please donate to the stroke foundation. 

There is an enormous volume of people I must thank.. first and foremost my family, friends, school community, Drs and Nurses, rehab specialists, ANZ and NSW police. Wouldn’t be here without them!

I will conduct a couple of fundraising events this year and for the subsequent ones ask that you share with your networks as I will do a KMs based challenge in Middle of the year and a 12 month celebration!
