I'm raising awareness and funds this national stroke week!
The 31st of August - 6 September is National Stroke Week in Australia.
This is something close to my family’s heart as, on March 25th this year my father suffered a stroke that has changed his life forever. When a stroke happens, brain cells die at the rate of 1.9 million cells per minute but medical treatments can stop this damage. A F.A.S.T hero helped save my fathers life with quick medical attention and it is because of this, that he is making a strong recovery.
I will be running 100kms for stroke awareness with the virtual starting line at the beginning of this stroke awareness week. My goal is to raise funds which will in turn give awareness for stroke prevention, recognition, and maybe even just, help another family have their loved ones come home and hug them again.
Stroke statistics indicate that in 1 in 4 of us will suffer a stroke in our lifetime. Recognise the signs of stroke and think FAST! - (Face Arms Speech Time).
Your support is greatly appreciated. This ones for you dad, and all the other people who are fighting so hard to live a new life after stroke 🤍✨🏃🏻♀️👟
The finish lineThursday 10th Sep
Stroke survivors never quit - and it is with this mentality of strength and perseverance that I was able to cross the finish line at 100km. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends, colleagues and the lovely team at the Stroke Foundation for the continued support. It has been an honour to take this opportunity to raise awareness and raise funds for Stroke. #strokeawarenessShare
