I'm walking 131km this May for Stroke Foundation

Hi there, I'm taking on the challenge of 131km in May and raising funds for Stroke Foundation to help create a future with fewer strokes.

I'm taking part in this walk to raise money and awareness for stroke victims because stroke has deeply affected my family. My Step Dad suffered two strokes during his life and sadly had another one at the time of his passing. My uncle and my Nan have also been stroke survivors. Their experiences have shown me firsthand how sudden and life-changing a stroke can be, not just for the person affected but for their entire family. This walk is my way of honouring their strength and resilience, while supporting vital research, rehabilitation services, and awareness efforts so that fewer families have to go through what ours has endured. Every step I take is in their memory and in hope for a future with better prevention and outcomes for stroke victims.

Every day in Australia, 131 people will have a stroke.

Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers and doesn't discriminate; it affects anyone, anytime. It claims more lives than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. And incredibly, up to 120 babies and 400 children have a stroke in Australia each year.

By supporting my challenge, you’ll be helping Stroke Foundation deliver life-changing programs that focus on:

• Preventing stroke through education, awareness, and encouraging blood pressure checks

• Saving lives by improving recognition and response — including awareness of the F.A.S.T. (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) signs of stroke — and strengthening stroke care

• Supporting recovery with trusted information, StrokeLine, and online communities for survivors and families
