Walk with us. Walk for them.
Walk for the 131 Australians who experience a stroke every day.

By walking 131km in May, you’re moving for each one of them — helping fund life-changing prevention, research, and recovery programs.

If 131km feels like too much, choose 65km — roughly half the distance, but just as meaningful.

However far you go, every step helps create a future with fewer strokes.

Register for free and create your personal challenge page.

Choose your distance — 131km for the 131 Australians who have a stroke each day, or 65km if you’d prefer to take it at your own pace.

Get moving

Walk throughout May — on your own, with friends, family, or your furry companion.

You can take part outdoors, on the treadmill, or wherever suits you best.

Or gather a team and take on the challenge together — every step makes a difference.

Fundraise and inspire

Share your challenge and ask for support from your friends, family, and colleagues.

Every dollar you raise helps prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery through awareness, education, and recovery programs across Australia.

Make it your challenge

However you choose to take part, make it yours.
You can:

> Walk a few kilometres each day;

> Take on weekend hikes or longer walks;

> Create a team with friends, family, or colleagues;

> Honour someone you love impacted by stroke;

> Take part as part of your own stroke recovery journey, setting goals that feel right for you and celebrating how far you’ve come.

Every step counts — because creating a future with fewer strokes matters.

From loss to action

Chris’s story is a powerful reminder to make every moment count.  After losing a close friend, he felt a strong push to prioritise his health—not just for himself, but for his three children.

Taking on the 131km in May challenge became a way to honour that wake-up call while supporting a cause close to his heart. Having grown up knowing two people who experienced stroke, he often wondered how things might have been different with more awareness and prevention.

L
ast year, he found joy in the simple rhythm of running, the strength of community support and the chance to spark important conversations.

His message to anyone thinking about signing up is clear: jump in. You’ll raise vital awareness, help prevent stroke, and keep yourself moving in the process.

Join the challenge—just like Chris—and be part of something that truly matters.

Your steps = vital programs and resources
Every kilometre you walk or run helps fund life-saving stroke prevention and recovery programs. You’re making a real difference for Australians impacted by stroke.

Why your help is so important

Every day, 131 Australians have a stroke.

Stroke is one of Australia’s leading causes of death and disability — and it can affect anyone, at any time.

It claims more lives than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men.
And incredibly, up to 120 babies and 400 children have a stroke in Australia each year.

By fundraising for 131km in May, you’re helping Stroke Foundation deliver vital programs that:
  • Prevent stroke through education, awareness, and encouraging blood pressure checks

  • Save lives by improving recognition and response — including awareness of the F.A.S.T. (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) signs of stroke — and strengthening stroke care

  • Support recovery with trusted information, StrokeLine, and online communities for survivors and families

Together, we can help create a future with fewer strokes — and better outcomes for those impacted.
