FAQs

What is 131km in May?

add remove

131km in May is a national virtual walking challenge to support stroke prevention, awareness, and recovery programs. You can choose to walk (or run) 131km to represent the 131 Australians who experience a stroke every day — or 65km if you prefer a shorter distance.

Can I participate if I’m recovering from a stroke or have other health considerations?

add remove

Absolutely. The challenge is flexible and designed for everyone. Set your own pace and distance, walk as it suits you, and celebrate your achievements. It’s always best to consult your healthcare provider before starting.

Can I take part with friends, family, or my pet?

add remove

Yes! You can walk or run solo, with friends or family, or even bring your furry companion along. You can also form teams with colleagues or community groups to complete the distance together.

How do I track my kilometres?

add remove

You can track your distance however you like — using a running or walking app, a smartwatch, or even a simple journal.

You can also record your distances on your fundraising dashboard and can link your Fitbit and Garmin.

The most important thing is to record your progress so you can celebrate your achievements and share them with your supporters.

Are there any resources to help me track my kilometres?

add remove

Yes! Once you sign up, you’ll have access to your personal dashboard, where you can easily log your kilometres. You can connect your Fitbit or Garmin so your activity updates automatically. Prefer to track things yourself? We’ll also provide a downloadable calendar so you can record your kilometres manually throughout the challenge.

Do I have to walk the full distance in one go?

add remove

Not at all! You can break your distance into daily or weekly goals — for example, a few kilometres each day, weekend hikes, or longer walks when it suits you. Every step counts.

How do I fundraise?

Once you register, a personal fundraising page will be created. Share your page with friends, family, and colleagues, and encourage them to support your challenge.

You can also create a Facebook fundraiser from your dashboard.
