I'm fundraising to prevent, treat and beat stroke!

In memory of our amazing Grandma, we are running to raise funds and awareness for Stroke Foundation to help prevent, treat and beat stroke.

This year we will be taking part in a few half marathons (some with big hills, some that are fast) and our biggest event yet - a relay 50 miler, to raise money for Stroke Foundation.

Stroke attacks the brain, the human control centre, changing lives in an instant. It can happen to anyone, at any age and affects everyone differently.

Few people will think about stroke until it touches their life.

It’s estimated more than 27,400 people will have a stroke in Australia for the first time in 2022, equating to one stroke every nineteen minutes.

Today, there are over 445,000 people in our community whose lives have been changed by stroke and their number is growing.

Stroke Foundation is a national charity that partners with the community to prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery.

With your support, Stroke Foundation can provide support to those affected right now and fund research to fight stroke.

Join us today in making a difference to stroke prevention, treatment and care.

My Updates

Our reason

Monday 20th Feb

Before November last year, I had been lucky to had not personally been impacted by stroke. Then my world changed. On what was meant to be a normal Monday afternoon we received the news that my Grandma had suffered a stroke. In a short period of time I quickly learnt a lot about stroke. My biggest learning? It’s scary. It can be unexpected. It happens fast and it can be life changing. Unfortunately in my grandma’s case the impact was fatal.

In my Grandma’s legacy and to make a positive difference to other individuals and families impacted by stroke, Mack and I will be taking on a number of challenges in 2023 and raising money for the incredible Stroke Foundation Australia.

First up, we have a few half marathons to complete. Different ones. Some with almighty hills and also HBF run for a reason. But our biggest challenge yet - WTF Dwellingup. You might think you know what WTF stands for but in this case it’s actually Waterous Trail on Foot. Although, I think the real meaning is more accurate here. In September we will be participating in a 50 mile trail run as a two person team. Together, we will run 80km through the trails of Dwellingup. I’m not quite sure what my Grandma would think of this to be honest, she always thought we were mad for running half marathons. But I know that no matter what she thinks, she is proud. And we want to do her proud.

If you have ANY spare dollars or cents, pounds or pence, please please consider donating to the incredible foundation that is Stroke Foundation Australia.

We will update you as we go on both our progress in training and events and let you know if we add any new exciting and challenging events to our calendar for 2023.

From Mack and me to you all. Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any contribution and any support, whether financial, emotional, psychological or physical.

In memory of my wonderful Grandma who we will love and miss for the rest of our life.
