For My Makie
I have chosen to support the Stroke Foundation as part of my 26th birthday in memory of my beloved grandmother. Instead of receiving gifts, I would like to raise funds and contribute to research to help prevent, treat and beat stroke
Our world changed forever in August when our beloved Makie past after suffering a haemorrhagic stroke. Makie was always so strong and healthy, with no pre-existing health problems. I never thought we would loose her so suddenly and to a stroke of all things.
This year there will be almost 56,000 new and recurrent strokes, that is one stroke every 9 minutes.
Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers and a leading cause of disability. It kills more women than breast cancer and more men than prostate cancer.
The Stroke Foundation can provide support to those affected right now and fund research to help prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery.
This had been a difficult year for everyone in every aspect, particularly financially. If you are able to contribute just a few dollars to help other victims of stroke recover and return to their families, that’s the best birthday gift I could ever ask for.
Thanks in advance.
