My target 131 kms
I'm walking 131km this May for Stroke Foundation
Hi friends and family,
Last year was a really tough one for me health-wise. For months, I couldn’t walk due to a broken heel and grade 3 ankle tear. And I had only just come out of a six month hard brace on my arm due to an immobile and injured wrist! When mobility is taken away it affects every part of you. It impacted not just my mobility, but my independence, my wellbeing, and my sense of self.
So this May feels different.
I am delighted to say I am stepping into an exciting new chapter as Event Lead for the Strokes4Stroke charity art exhibition with the Stroke Foundation and I wanted to mark that in a way that truly means something to me.
I am walking 131km in May. The 131 represents every Australian who experiences a stroke each day.
Following a year where I couldn’t walk, this is my way of celebrating movement, strength, and recovery whilst also raising vital funds for a cause that impacts so many lives.
Stroke is one of the leading causes of death in Australia. Stroke claims more lives than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men.
Yet so many people don’t realise just how common and life-changing it is.
This walk is for awareness.
It’s for prevention.
It’s for recovery.
And it’s for every person and family impacted by stroke.
If you can support me, thank you, truly.
If not, sharing this or cheering me on means just as much.
Because every step I take this May means so much to me!
And every step matters.
Thank you! Jo ❤️
