I'm walking 65km this May for Stroke Foundation

Hi there, I'm taking on the challenge of 65kms in May and raising funds for Stroke Foundation to help create a future with fewer strokes.

Every day in Australia, 131 people will have a stroke.

Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers and doesn't discriminate; it affects anyone, anytime. It claims more lives than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. And incredibly, up to 120 babies and 400 children have a stroke in Australia each year.

By supporting my challenge, you’ll be helping Stroke Foundation deliver life-changing programs that focus on:

  • Preventing stroke through education, awareness, and encouraging blood pressure checks

  • Saving lives by improving recognition and response — including awareness of the F.A.S.T. (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) signs of stroke — and strengthening stroke care

  • Supporting recovery with trusted information, StrokeLine, and online communities for survivors and families

Your donation is more than a contribution — it helps people understand their risk, act faster in an emergency, and find support on the road to recovery.

Thank you so much for supporting me and being part of this challenge.

Together, we can help create a future with fewer strokes.

My Updates

My Dad

Saturday 25th Apr
In 2006, we received a phone call that changed our lives forever. My dad had suffered a major stroke. He couldn’t speak, he was confused, and suddenly everything was different.

After a long journey through hospitals—from Port Macquarie to Wangaratta to the Royal Melbourne—countless scans, and months of rehab, he was finally able to come home. But life was never the same. Dad was left paralysed on his left side.

For the next 15 years, my mum took on the incredible role of full-time carer. She cared for her husband with strength, love, and dedication every single day. It wasn’t easy, but she wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Before his stroke, Dad had one granddaughter—the absolute apple of his eye. As our family grew, he was lucky enough to welcome five more beautiful grandchildren into his life. They all adored him, and he adored them right back. I only wish they could have known him as we did before the stroke—but even so, they knew an amazing Pa.

This May, I’m taking on 65km to raise awareness. If sharing our story helps even one person, it will mean everything to me.

Please don’t feel any pressure to donate—simply sharing this post and spreading awareness is more than enough. The more people who understand, the closer we get to a future where families don’t have to go through what we did.

Love you always, Dad ❤️
