Prevent Stroke. Savel Lives. Enhance Recovery
My 5K Run for Stroke Research šāāļøā¤ļø
Iām taking on the challenge of running 5 km at the Melbourne Marathon Festival, finishing inside the MCG. 5 km might not sound like a huge distance, but I want to use this challenge to represent something much bigger.
My uncle recently had a stroke, and seeing how a stroke can affect someone made me realise how important stroke research is. It made me want to do something positive to support research and people affected by stroke.
Iām going to train hard and work towards completing the full 5 km on race day. For me, 5 km is a challenge I can train for, but for someone recovering from a stroke, even everyday movement can be a much bigger challenge. That is what motivates me to keep going.
My goal is to raise as much money as possible for stroke research and help support work that can improve prevention, treatment and recovery for people affected by stroke.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, can help. Thank you to everyone who supports me and helps me turn my 5 km challenge into something that can make a difference.
5 km for me. A bigger purpose for others. ā¤ļøšāāļø
Iām making a difference by fundraising for Stroke Foundation to help prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery for survivors of stroke.
In the next 11 minutes, someone, somewhere in Australia is going to have a stroke.
Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers and doesn't discriminate; it affects anyone, anytime. It claims more lives than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. And incredibly, around 600 Australian children experience stroke each year.
By supporting me, you'll be contributing to sustaining vital programs and resources that Stroke Foundation provides, including:
š Preventing Stroke:
- StrokeSafe Talks
- Australia's Biggest Blood Pressure Check
- Information Resources
Ā š Saving Lives:
- F.A.S.T. (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) Signs of Stroke Awareness
- Living Guidelines for Stroke Management
- InformMe Website for Health Professionals
Ā š Enhancing Recovery:
- StrokeLine
- My Stroke Journey
- EnableMe Website for Survivors of Stroke
Your support goes beyond just a donation; it's a lifeline for individuals at risk of stroke and survivors of stroke.
Thank you for supporting me. Together we can change the state of stroke in Australia for generations to come.
