In August 2024 my Dad suffered from a stroke and in minutes his life was turned upside down- from being incredibly active and fit to losing use of his left side. He's been making great progress however it is a long road ahead and he has been so determined to get his function back and giving his all on his recovery and physio all the while staying so positive. He's been so inspiring for everyone who has been there to support him.Ā
In May I'm completing an Ironman which has been a bucket list item of mine and a big motivator to enter has been Dad. Seeing what he has had to go through these last 8 months to push himself physically and mentally has been a big inspiration for me.Ā
Iām making a difference by fundraising for Stroke Foundation to help prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery for survivors of stroke.
In the next 11 minutes, someone, somewhere in Australia is going to have a stroke.
Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers and doesn't discriminate; it affects anyone, anytime. It claims more lives than breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. And incredibly, around 600 Australian children experience stroke each year.
