I'm fundraising to prevent, treat and beat stroke!

I have chosen to fundraise for the Stroke Foundation to raise awareness and funds to prevent, treat and beat stroke.

Stroke is one of Australia's biggest killers. It kills more women than breast cancer and more men than prostate cancer.

It attacks the brain – the human control centre, changing lives in an instant, and its impact extend well beyond the immediate medical emergency.

There were over 27,400 Australians who experienced a stroke for the first time in their lives in 2020, while more than 445,000 survivors are living in the community.

With your support, the Stroke Foundation can provide support to those affected right now and fund research to help prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery.

I was unaware of the effects of a stroke and when I lost my mum it made me realise how fatal and unexpected they can be. My mum was a very healthy woman as she never smoked and did not eat or drink in unhealth ways. She was thin and fit and no one would have expected her to have had any medical issues; nor did the doctors that always gave her medical checks. Stroke can impact and change many lives in the matter of days. One morning my mum was there like always and that night stroke hit her and I never got to speak to her again. I would love to help and support the stroke foundation in any way possible for her 50th birthday on the 8/7/21. I plan to swim all day from 8am to 7pm as a challenge for me, my mum, all her loved ones, friends, and the stroke foundation. Any support for this challenge would be amazing and I encourage anyone to come swim along with me and cheer me on to try and swim 50km on the day to celebrate her 50th birthday.

The event will be held at Swimerz Academy on the 11th of July where I will swim all day and for anyone else wanting to swim, you can contact me and I will schedule you in for a specific time period.

Thanks in advance.
