The Adelaide University Physiotherapy Association is committed to empowering individuals on their journey to recovery, and no cause aligns more closely with our mission than supporting stroke survivors. As physiotherapist students, we understand the importance of an allied health professional's role in the rehabilitation journey as it is our scope to help regain function, movement, speech and independence for stroke survivors.
Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability in Australia, affecting more than 445,000 people. These individuals often face profound challenges in regaining their independence, with physiotherapy playing a critical role in helping them recover mobility, strength, and quality of life.
Our association is proud to partner with the Stroke Foundation, a charity that works tirelessly to improve outcomes for stroke survivors through awareness, prevention, rehabilitation, and support services. The funds raised will go directly to the Stroke Foundation’s initiatives, including community outreach, stroke prevention campaigns, and funding essential research into rehabilitation and recovery techniques.
Through The Rehab Run, we aim not only to raise vital funds but also to spread awareness about the importance of early intervention and rehabilitation in stroke recovery. By joining forces, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of stroke survivors and their families, ensuring they receive the care, resources, and support they need to thrive again.
With your support, we can give hope and strength to those facing the long road of recovery after stroke.
