Your Impact
Why your support matters
Children have strokes too. It can happen before birth, in the first month of life, or anytime up to 18 years old.
In Australia, up to 120 babies and 400 children have a stroke every year. For families, this is often unexpected, life-changing—and overwhelming.
Stroke can affect everything a child thinks, feels, says and does. Some effects are visible, others are hidden. Recovery takes time, specialised care and unwavering support. That’s where you come in.
When you attend or support a Counterstroke Golf Classic event in 2026, you’re doing something extraordinary.
You’re giving children who’ve had a stroke—and their families—the hope, support and resources they need to face the future.

Supporting children like Caleb
Caleb wasn’t even a day old when he began having seizures. “I was getting ready to go see him in the special care nursery,” his mum, Beck, recalls. “The nurses came in and told me the emergency call I’d just heard was for Caleb.”
Caleb was quickly transferred to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. An MRI revealed the unthinkable: Caleb had experienced multiple strokes before he was even born.
“The news was devastating,” Beck says. “I broke down. It came as a complete shock.”
After a long month in hospital filled with treatments and tests, Caleb was finally able to go home and begin life with his family. Beck reflects on that time as “the scariest rollercoaster I’ve ever been on,” but every day, Caleb amazes her with his progress.
Caleb is one of around 400 children and 120 babies affected by stroke each year. Your support can bring hope to families like his.
Join us at the Counterstroke Golf Classic and help raise vital funds to support children like Caleb and their families.
The difference you make
By helping us raise funds you will ensure families can access life-changing resources like Our Family’s Stroke Journey, expert advice through StrokeLine, and community support via Little Stroke Warriors.
You’re also helping us create new tools and awareness campaigns so every child gets the best chance at recovery—and every parent feels supported.
Because of you, children can walk, talk, learn and dream again. Families can find hope. And together, we can make childhood stroke visible.
